Name: Peter Cretiu
Year: 2nd Year
Major: Political Science
Position: VP of Communications
1. Why are you running for an Executive Board position?
The primary reason I am running for VP of Communication is because I see the immense potential that IIT and its student body has on creating the best campus in the Midwest. If provided with the opportunity to serve on the Executive Board I will see to it that our interaction between the student population and the government would a fluid system; one where students can communicate their needs to the government and then work with the IIT faculty and staff to meet those needs.
2. What relevant experience do you have with student government at IIT or elsewhere?
While I may not have experience in IIT politics or government, I do possess skills that I have acquired while serving as President of the Romanian Club and Lincoln Park High School. I also was in charge of getting feedback on key topics for The Lincoln Park High School Newspaper.
3. What other extra-curricular experiences do you have?
I was on the Uptown Chicago Park District flag football team during my freshman and sophomore year in high school. I am also currently an In-store Technician at Best Buy Geeksquad where interpersonal interaction is always required.
4. How would you best represent the interest of IIT students in your decision making?
I will take into account all of the matters at hand that pertain to my office and decide upon which would have the greatest beneficial impact on the largest group.
5. What strengths do you have that you consider as important to be an Exec Board Member?
A board member should possess the necessary skill to convey the issues to the student body and in return be able to listen to what is needed at IIT. Thus one must be able to listen as well as act while balancing the interests of both the majority and the minority.
