Candidate Debate: April 8th, 5:00pm • SGA Elections: April 14th

Name: Celeste Wegrzyn
Year: 4th Year
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Position: Chair of Finance Board

1. Why are you running for an Executive Board position?

I feel that I am able to bring forward skill, experience, ability to adapt, and willingness to change and to work with the rest of Exec Board in order to improve both SGA’s internal workings and also SGA’s ability to bring issues to completion. I will be completing an entire 5th year here at IIT, and as such will be able to easily transition through from Fall 2009 to Spring 2010 rather than having to be replaced part way through.

2. What relevant experience do you have with student government at IIT or elsewhere?

SGA Senator, Armour College, 2006-2008
SGA Representative, COSGA, 2008
Finance Board, member, 2007-present
Finance Board Selection Commission, 2009

3. What other extra-curricular experiences do you have?

33rd St. Productions: member, 2005-2006; Secretary, 2006-2007; President, 2007-2008; Vice President, 2008-present.
Zeta Pi Omega, various positions, 2005-2008

4. How would you best represent the interest of IIT students in your decision making?

I am encouraging students to contact me about what changes they would like to make to the financial process when it comes to student organizations, budget requests, and the like. We need to make the process as streamlined and easy to understand as possible, which is my goal for the Fall 2009 hearings.

5. What strengths do you have that you consider as important to be an Exec Board Member?

I have plenty of ideas on how to improve SGA and Finance Board, and am excited to potentially work with the new Exec Board members on these improvements. I am responsible, dedicated, and passionate when it comes to SGA and FB. I have plenty of experience in the existing processes, and am open to ideas for change as well.
